The player who takes it will certainly have a big advantage over the others. Oldtown is home to the Citadel with the maesters and all knowledge can be found there. Kings Landing can get mages guild level 4. Most castles can only have low level mages guilds. Only main castles (the castles you start with) can create upgraded troops (although there are some exceptions)Ĭapitol can only be built in Kings Landing.
Most castles can't get further then forts and can only recruit units without the upgrades. A settlement without fort can just recruit some pikemen. You can't build everything in most castles. There are enough dwellings around the map for different units and enemy monsters can still join you. Fantasy units like griffins and angels cannot be recruited in a castle. This allows the players to build large armies of the same type. To stay true to the story, most castles are knight castles. Each town has a theme and can only raise the type of creatures appropriate to that theme. It involves capturing and developing towns, gathering resources, assembling armies and sending them into combat. And with it, comes winter and an endless night.
